RESUMO

Repeat surgery is often required to treat brain tumor recurrences. Here, we compared the functional state and rehabilitation of patients undergoing initial and repeat surgery for brain tumors to establish their individual risks that might impact management. In total, 835 patients underwent operations, and 139 (16.6%) required rehabilitation during the inpatient stay. The Karnofsky performance status, Barthel index, and the modified Rankin scale were used to assess functional status, and the gait index was used to assess gait efficiency. Motor skills, postoperative complications, and length of hospital stay were recorded. Patients were classified into two groups: first surgery (n = 103) and repeat surgery (n = 30). Eighteen percent of patients required reoperations, and these patients required prolonged postoperative rehabilitation as often as those operated on for the first time. Rehabilitation was more often complicated in the repeat surgery group (p = 0.047), and the complications were more severe and persistent. Reoperated patients had significantly worse motor function and independence in activities of daily living before surgery and at discharge, but the deterioration after surgery affected patients in the first surgery group to a greater extent according to all metrics (p < 0.001). The length of hospital stay was similar in both groups. These results will be useful for tailoring postoperative rehabilitation during a hospital stay on the neurosurgical ward as well as planning discharge requirements after leaving the hospital.

Brain tumor location is an important factor determining the functional state after brain tumor surgery. We assessed the functional state and course of rehabilitation of patients undergoing surgery for brain tumors and assessed the location-dependent risk of loss of basic motor skills and the time needed for improvement after surgery. There were 835 patients who underwent operations, and 139 (16.6%) required rehabilitation during the inpatient stay. Karnofsky Performance Scale, Barthel Index, and the modified Rankin scale were used to assess functional status, whereas Gait Index was used to assess gait efficiency. Motor skills, overall length of stay (LOS) in hospital, and LOS after surgery were recorded. Patients were classified into four groups: cerebral hemisphere (CH), ventricular system (VS), and cerebellopontine angle (CPA) tumors; and a control group not requiring rehabilitation. VS tumor patients had the lowest scores in all domains compared with the other groups before surgery (p < 0.001). Their performance further deteriorated after surgery and by the day of discharge. They most often required long-lasting postoperative rehabilitation and had the longest LOS (35 days). Operation was most often required for CH tumors (77.7%), and all metrics and LOS parameters were better in these patients (p < 0.001). Patients with CPA tumors had the best outcomes (p < 0.001). Most patients (83.4%) with brain tumors did not require specialized rehabilitation, and LOS after surgery in the control group was on average 5.1 days after surgery. VS tumor patients represent a rehabilitation challenge. Postoperative rehabilitation planning must take the tumor site and preoperative condition into account.

OBJECTIVE: Childhood brain tumor survivors (CBTS) are at risk to develop hypothalamic-pituitary (HP) dysfunction (HPD). The risk for HPD may vary between different age groups due to maturation of the brain and differences in oncologic treatment protocols. Specific studies on HPD in infant brain tumor survivors (infant-BTS, 0-1 years at diagnosis) or toddler brain tumor survivors (toddler-BTS, ≥1-3 years) have not been performed. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A retrospective nationwide cohort study in CBTS was performed. Prevalence and risk factors for HPD were compared between infant-, toddler-, and older-BTS. Subgroup analysis was performed for all non-irradiated CBTS (n = 460). RESULTS: In total, 718 CBTS were included, with a median follow-up time of 7.9 years. Overall, despite the less frequent use of radiotherapy (RT) in infants, no differences in the prevalence of HPD were found between the three groups. RT (OR: 16.44; 95% CI: 8.93-30.27), suprasellar tumor location (OR: 44.76; 95% CI: 19.00-105.49), and younger age (OR: 1.11; 95% CI: 1.05-1.18) were associated with HP dysfunction. Infant-BTS and toddler-BTS showed more weight gain (P < 0.0001) and smaller height SDS (P = 0.001) during follow-up. In non-irradiated CBTS, infant-BTS and toddler-BTS were significantly more frequently diagnosed with TSH-, ACTH-, and ADH deficiency, compared to older-BTS. CONCLUSION: Infant and toddler brain tumor survivors seem to be more vulnerable to develop HP dysfunction than older children. These results emphasize the importance of special infant and toddler brain tumor treatment protocols and the need for endocrine surveillance in children treated for a brain tumor at a young age.

Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a binary radiotherapeutic approach to the treatment of malignant tumors, especially glioblastoma, the most frequent and incurable brain tumor. For successful BNCT, a boron-containing therapeutic agent should provide selective and effective accumulation of 10B isotope inside target cells, which are then destroyed after neutron irradiation. Nucleic acid aptamers look like very prospective candidates for carrying 10B to the tumor cells. This study represents the first example of using 2'-F-RNA aptamer GL44 specific to the human glioblastoma U-87 MG cells as a boron delivery agent for BNCT. The closo-dodecaborate residue was attached to the 5'-end of the aptamer, which was also labeled by the fluorophore at the 3'-end. The resulting bifunctional conjugate showed effective and specific internalization into U-87 MG cells and low toxicity. After incubation with the conjugate, the cells were irradiated by epithermal neutrons on the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics neutron source. Evaluation of the cell proliferation by real-time cell monitoring and the clonogenic test revealed that boron-loaded aptamer decreased specifically the viability of U-87 MG cells to the extent comparable to that of 10B-boronophenylalanine taken as a control. Therefore, we have demonstrated a proof of principle of employing aptamers for targeted delivery of boron-10 isotope in BNCT. Considering their specificity, ease of synthesis, and large toolkit of chemical approaches for high boron-loading, aptamers provide a promising basis for engineering novel BNCT agents.

RESUMEN Introducción: la atención al enfermo es llevada a cabo por una secuencia específica de la familia, por lo que esta es considerada un cuidador principal. Objetivo: describir las características sociodemográficas en cuidadores principales de pacientes operados de cáncer de cerebro. Materiales y métodos : se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, en un universo de 128 cuidadores principales de pacientes operados de cáncer de cerebro en el Hospital Universitario Clínico Quirúrgico Comandante Faustino Pérez Hernández, de Matanzas, entre 2016 y 2018. Criterio de inclusión: cuidadores que residían en la provincia y aceptación del consentimiento informado. Se excluyeron familiares de pacientes que fallecieron durante la investigación. Se aplicaron cuestionarios y entrevistas para caracterizar los resultados. Los mismos se analizaron en frecuencias absolutas, relativas, porcentual, en paquete estadístico de SPSS versión 20.0 en Windows. Resultados : predominó el sexo femenino (79,68 %). El 100 % de los cuidadores principales residían en casa del enfermo. Prevaleció el nivel de escolaridad de técnico medio (35,93 %); 88,28 % de los cuidadores mantenían vínculo laboral, y 41,40 % eran hermanas de los enfermos. Dentro de las necesidades de aprendizaje del cuidador, el déficit de conocimientos sobre la enfermedad constituyó el 73,43 %. Conclusiones: imperó el género femenino en los cuidadores con vínculo laboral, y con mayor incidencia las hermanas. Se evidenció la complejidad del cuidado en el hogar de los pacientes con secuelas, minusvalía progresiva producidas por la enfermedad, y que generalmente la mujer asume con más facilidad (AU).


ABSTRACT Introduction: the care of the patient is carried out by a specific sequence of the family, catalogued as a main caregiver. Objective: to describe the socio-demographic characteristics in main caregivers of patients who underwent a brain cancer surgery. Materials and methods: a retrospective, descriptive study was carried out in a universe of 128 main caregivers of patients who underwent brain cancer surgery in the University Hospital Faustino Perez Hernandez, of Matanzas, from 2016 until 2018. Inclusion criteria: caregivers living in the province of Matanzas and giving the informed consent. The relatives of patients who died during the research were excluded. Interviews were made and questionnaires applied to characterize the results. They were analyzed in absolute, relative, and percentage frequencies in statistical packet Windows SPSS, 20.0. Results: female sex predominated (79.68%). 100% of main caregivers lived in the house of the patient. The technician scholarship predominated (35.93%); 88.28% of the caregivers kept their employment bonds, and 41.40% were patients' sisters. The deficit of knowledge on the disease was 73.43% of the caregiver learning necessities. Conclusions: female genre prevailed in caregivers with employment bonds, with higher incidence of sisters. It was evidenced the complexity of home care of the patients with sequels, progressive disabilities caused by the disease, generally assumed more easily by women (AU).

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of reminiscence therapy-based care (RTBC) program on anxiety, depression, patients satisfaction, and survival benefit in glioma patients after tumor resection.A total of 150 eligible glioma patients were randomized into the RTBC group (N = 75, receiving RTBC) and the control care (CC) group (N = 75, receiving CC). Interventions were performed twice a month for 12 months. Anxiety was evaluated by Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) for anxiety score and Zung self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) score; meanwhile, depression was evaluated by HADS for depression score and Zung self-rating depression scale (SDS) score; additionally, patients satisfaction was scored. A 36-month follow-up was performed, and accumulating overall survival (OS) were calculated.Both anxiety level and depression level were reduced in the RTBC group compared with the CC group at month 9 and month 12 (all P < .05); meanwhile, the proportion of anxious patients and depressed patients were decreased in the RTBC group compared with the CC group at month 12 (all P < .05). Moreover, patients satisfaction scores were increased in the RTBC group compared to the CC group at month 6, month 9, and month 12 (all P < .05). Additionally, accumulating OS showed an increasing tendency in the RTBC group compared to the CC group, but no statistical significance was observed (P = .186).RTBC program ameliorates anxiety, depression, and promotes patients satisfaction in glioma patients after tumor resection.

ABSTRACT: The incidence of leptomeningeal disease (LMD) is believed to be increasing in part because of more effective chemotherapy treatments allowing cancer progression behind the blood-brain barrier. However, little has been published about the rehabilitation of this growing patient population. In this study, impairments and rehabilitation utilization by cytology-proven LMD patients receiving intrathecal chemotherapy at a cancer center are described. A total of 109 consecutive patients with pathology-confirmed LMD who received an intrathecal chemotherapy infusion from January 1, 2017, through October 31, 2017, were retrospectively reviewed. Of the 109 patients, 103 (95%) had impairments described in their medical record that could impact physical function, including 74 of 109 (68%) who had deconditioning or fatigue. Kaplan-Meier median survival from initial LMD diagnosis was 13.1 mos. The median number of hospital admissions and intrathecal chemotherapy administrations was both 8. Of the 109 patients, 43 (39%) had magnetic resonance imaging radiology interpreted LMD. Most LMD patients used rehabilitation services (95/109, 87%) and most were able to forego post-acute inpatient rehabilitation facilities (96/109, 88%). Additional research and education for rehabilitation professionals about this increasingly common syndrome are needed.

INTRODUCTION: Clinical outcome assessment (COA) is an important instrument for testing the effectiveness of treatments and for supporting healthcare professionals on decision-making. This review aims to assess the use of COAs, and the evaluation time points of motor status in patients with brain tumor (BT) undergoing surgery. METHODS: We performed a scoping review through MEDLINE, EMBASE, and LILACS databases, looking for original studies in primary or secondary BT, having motor function status as the primary outcome. EXCLUSION CRITERIA: mixed sample, BT recurrence, and an unspecific description of motor deficits evaluation. RESULTS: Nine studies met the eligibility criteria. There were 449 patients assessed. A total of 18 scales evaluated these BT patients, 12 performance outcomes measures (PerfO) tested motor function. Four scales were the clinician-reported outcome measures (ClinRO) found in this review, two assessed performance status, and two rated ambulation. Two patient-reported outcome measures (PRO) appraised functionality. CONCLUSIONS: A variety of instruments were used to assess BT patients. Rehabilitation studies are more likely to associate the use of PerfO and PRO concerning motor and functional status. The use of specific validated scales to the BT population was rare. The lack of a standardized approach hampers the quality of BT patient's assessment.

In pediatric brain tumor patients, treatment advances have increased survival rates to nearly 70%, while consequently shifting the burden of disease to long-term management. Exercise has demonstrated potential in improving multiple health impairments secondary to brain tumor treatment. However, these effects have not been consolidated through review. Therefore, we performed a systematic review of 6 health sciences databases (Medline, Embase, PsychINFO, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus, and Cochrane Central Database). Two reviewers screened studies against predefined inclusion criteria, namely that the study must: (i) be pediatric-specific; (ii) examine the effects of an exercise intervention; and (iii) employ a randomized or quasi-randomized trial design. The same 2 reviewers performed data extraction and analyses. From a pool of 4442, 5 articles-based on 2 independent trials-were included in our review (N=41). Exercise interventions were primarily aerobic, but included balance or muscle building components. Exercise had a positive effect on volumetric or diffusion-based neuroimaging outcomes, as well as motor performance and cardiorespiratory fitness. The effects of exercise on cognition remains unclear. Exercise did not worsen any of the outcomes studied. This review captures the state of the science, suggesting a potential role for exercise in children treated for brain tumor.

BACKGROUND: Glioma is the most common type of brain tumor because of the destructiveness of the disease itself and the side effects of treatment, patients often leave symptoms of neurological defects. At present, rehabilitation treatment is not popular in glioma patients. There is a lack of definite evidence to prove the benefits of rehabilitation therapy for glioma patients. The purpose of this meta-analysis is to determine whether rehabilitation therapy can significantly improve the prognosis of neurological function and improve the quality of life of patients with glioma. METHODS: The articles about rehabilitation treatment of glioma in Cochrane, PubMed, and Embase, Web of Science, and Medline database from January 1990 to May 2020 were searched. Before rehabilitation as the control group, after rehabilitation as the experimental group. The Functional Independence Measure (FIM) was used as the outcome index, including total FIM, motor FIM, and cognitive FIM. Use STATA12.0 for meta-analysis. RESULTS: A total of 8 articles were included in the study, with a total of 375 glioma patients. Meta-analysis of total FIM (SMD = 0.96, 95%CI = 0.66-1.26, P < .001), motor FIM (SMD = 0.75, 95%CI = 0.54-0.96, P < .001) and cognitive FIM (SMD = 0.35, 95%CI = 0.19-0.50, P < .001) indicated that the neurological function of rehabilitation was significantly improved in total, motor and consciousness. CONCLUSION: The published studies show that rehabilitation therapy can improve the functional prognosis and quality of life of glioma patients. More attention should be paid to the therapeutic value of rehabilitation for glioma patients in the future. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER: PROSPERO CRD42020188740.

Our objective was to further the understanding of the process of reintegration of childhood cancer patients after treatment and to identify factors influencing that process. Using a qualitative approach, we conducted 49 interviews with parents (n = 29 mothers, n = 20 fathers) from 31 families with a child (<18 years) with leukemia or CNS tumor. Interviews were conducted about 16 to 24 months after the end of the treatment. We used a semi-structured interview guideline and analyzed the data using content analysis. Average age of pediatric cancer patients was 5.5 years at the time of diagnosis; mean time since diagnosis was 3.5 years. Parents reported immediate impact of the disease on their children. Reintegration had gone along with delayed nursery/school enrollment or social challenges. In most cases reintegration was organized with a gradual increase of attendance. Due to exhaustion by obligatory activities, reintegration in leisure time activities was demanding and parents reported a gradual increase of activity level for their children. Parents described several barriers and facilitators influencing the reintegration process into nursery/school and leisure time activities (structural support, social support, health status, intrapersonal aspects). Although many children reintegrate well, the process takes lots of effort from parents and children. Childhood cancer survivors and their families should be supported after the end of intensive treatment to facilitate reintegration.

Aims: To investigate wait time (WT) for chemoradiation and survival in post-op high-grade glioma (HGG) patients admitted to inpatient rehabilitation compared with those discharged home. Materials & methods: A total of 291 HGG patients (14.4% grade III and 84.9% grade IV) were included in this retrospective cohort study. Patients were grouped by disposition following surgery. Results: Median length of stay was longer in acute inpatient rehabilitation facility (AIRF) patients (10d) compared with patients discharged home (3d). AIRF admission was associated with higher odds of excessive treatment delay. Median survival for AIRF patients less than for patients discharged home (42.9 vs 72.71 weeks). WT was not associated with survival even after adjusting for prognostic factors. Conclusion: HGG patients discharged to rehabilitation facilities have longer length of stay, longer WT and shorter survival compared with patients discharged home.

Brain tumor (BT) patients have a high incidence of disability due to the effects of the tumor itself or oncological treatment. Despite the incidence of neurological and functional deficits caused by BT, rehabilitation of those patients is not as properly established as in patients with other neurological conditions. The aim of the research was to evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation, carried out as an out- or in-patient program, as prevention of disability in BT patients. This was developed as a case-series report of two programs and a prospective, observational clinical study in BT patients who were allocated to inpatient (n = 28) or outpatient (n = 26) rehabilitation programs. The patients were assessed using the Barthel Index, Berg Balance Scale, Functional Independence Measure (FIM), Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Brain and Cognitive Function, and Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination III (ACE III) upon admission and after 12 weeks of rehabilitation. Analysis of the results showed that patients in both programs significantly improved their physical functioning scores in daily activities (p < 0.0001). We also observed significant reductions in most post-intervention cognitive complaints (p < 0.05), except for the FIM social functioning and ACE III language functioning in the outpatient group (p > 0.05) in contrast to inpatients (p < 0.001). This is evidence that early multidisciplinary rehabilitation is an effective therapeutic strategy to reduce BT symptoms and disability in this group of patients.

OBJECTIVE: The factors associated with health-related quality of life in patients with glioma remain unclear; particularly, the impact of symptoms on quality of life has not been studied comprehensively. This study aims to document the quality of life of patients with glioma and clarify the impact of symptoms. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, participants were recruited from patients at The University of Tokyo Hospital and from patients who were registered at the Japan Brain Tumor Alliance. We included adult patients with World Health Organization grade II-IV glioma and excluded those with disturbances of consciousness or aphasia. We used the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer QLQ-C30 and BN20 to evaluate quality of life and the symptoms. Multiple regression analyses were performed to investigate the impact of symptoms on European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer global health status and QLQ-C30 social functioning. In addition, we performed univariate subgroup analyses classified by World Health Organization grade and history of chemotherapy. RESULTS: This study included 76 patients. Seven symptoms occurred in more than 50% of the patients: fatigue, future uncertainty, drowsiness, communication deficit, financial difficulties, motor dysfunction and weakness of legs. Multiple regression analyses showed that insomnia affected their global health status, and appetite loss, financial difficulties and motor dysfunction were significantly related to their social functioning. In subgroup analysis, the number of symptom subscales that were significantly related to global health status and social functioning was larger in World Health Organization grade II patients compared with grade III/IV patients. CONCLUSIONS: In addition to neurological deficits, symptoms were associated with poor quality of life in patients with glioma. This study provided the basis on further investigation of usefulness of symptom evaluation on quality of life improvement.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy of aerobic exercise training to improve controlled attention, information processing speed and neural communication during increasing task load and rest in pediatric brain tumor survivors (PBTS) treated with cranial radiation. METHODS: Participants completed visual-motor Go and Go/No-Go tasks during magnetoencephalography recording prior to and following the completion of 12-weeks of exercise training. Exercise-related changes in response accuracy and visual-motor latency were evaluated with Linear Mixed models. The Phase Lag Index (PLI) was used to estimate functional connectivity during task performance and rest. Changes in PLI values after exercise training were assessed using Partial Least Squares analysis. RESULTS: Exercise training predicted sustained (12-weeks) improvement in response accuracy (p<0.05) during No-Go trials. Altered functional connectivity was detected in theta (4-7Hz) alpha (8-12Hz) and high gamma (60-100Hz) frequency bands (p<0.001) during Go and Go/No-Go trials. Significant changes in response latency and resting state connectivity were not detected. CONCLUSION: These findings support the efficacy of aerobic exercise to improve controlled attention and enhance functional mechanisms under increasing task load in participants. SIGNIFICANCE: It may be possible to harness the beneficial effects of exercise as therapy to promote cognitive recovery and enhance brain function in PBTS.

INTRODUCTION: Rehabilitation and exercise interventions are beneficial for the physical and psychological health of cancer survivors. Current clinic-based performance status measures do not accurately capture the survivor's functioning, or rehabilitation and exercise needs. Our primary objective was to explore the feasibility of performing a performance-based functional assessment with brain tumour survivors as a means to inform needs for rehabilitation and exercise. METHODS: A feasibility study was conducted with survivors of brain and other neurological cancers attending new patient or follow-up clinics. Survivors were assessed using the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), grip strength and Rosow-Breslau Physical Activity Self-Assessment (RSB). RESULTS: We approached 40 survivors with brain tumours, and 30 agreed to participate in the study. The SPPB was inversely correlated with Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) scores (r = -.73; p < .01), but scores on the SPPB for individuals classified as ECOG 1 ranged from 5 to 12 out of 12, indicating a large variability in functional scores within this ECOG grade. CONCLUSION: Implementation of objective functional testing is feasible in the neuro-oncology outpatient clinic. The SPPB appears to best inform the functional status of survivors with brain tumours, facilitating more individualised exercise and rehabilitation referrals.

BACKGROUND: It is recommended that people with gliomas engage in rehabilitation, but high-quality evidence to support this recommendation is lacking. OBJECTIVE: This study assesses the effectiveness of a physical therapy- and occupational therapy-based rehabilitation intervention compared with usual rehabilitation care for quality of life (QoL) during active anticancer treatment. DESIGN: This study was a randomized controlled trial. SETTING: The study took place in Odense University Hospital, Denmark. PARTICIPANTS: The trial included people with gliomas who were functionally independent. INTERVENTION: The participants were randomly assigned to a supervised rehabilitation intervention or usual rehabilitation care during the active anticancer period. The supervised rehabilitation included physical therapy and occupational therapy-based interventions. MEASUREMENTS: The primary outcome was the between-group difference in the overall QoL from baseline to the 6-week follow-up. It was self-rated with the global health status (GHS)/QoL domains from the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Questionnaire. Eighty-eight participants per group were required to find a 10% between-group difference from baseline to the 6-week follow-up. Secondary outcomes were the health-related QoL domains, symptomatology, and functional performance. RESULTS: A total of 64 participants were included (32 in the intervention group and 32 in the control group). At follow-up, the intervention group self-rated a nonsignificantly better score for GHS/QoL than the control group (adjusted mean difference = 8.7% [95% confidence interval = -4.36 to 21.79]). Compared with the control group, the intervention group had consistently better results on self-rated secondary outcomes, including cognitive functioning (ß = 16.2) and fatigue (ß = -13.4), and objectively measured aerobic power (ß = 2.6). LIMITATIONS: The number of participants and duration of follow-up were inadequate to determine if the intervention was superior to the current usual rehabilitation care. CONCLUSIONS: The physical therapy- and occupational therapy-based rehabilitation intervention did not affect GHS/QoL. However, the trial found promising significant effects on both objective and self-reported secondary outcomes, making rehabilitation efforts during active anticancer treatment promising.

RESUMO

Cancer affects millions of individuals, and approximately half will develop functional impairments. Cancers that commonly, either from direct effects or from its treatments, result in functional impairments include breast, head and neck, brain, and spinal cord tumors. There is a plethora of potential impairments including pain, spasticity, dystonia, weakness, and neurogenic bowel or bladder. This article reviews the functional impairments frequently encountered in breast, head and neck, brain, and spinal cord tumors. The authors also discuss management and treatment options incorporated in comprehensive cancer rehabilitation to address these impairments to maximize and maintain function and quality of life.

OBJECTIVE: This secondary analysis of the ABLE Trial (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03148886) aimed to assess physical activity preferences before and after a 6-month physical activity intervention for women recently diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and to investigate demographic and clinical correlates of these preferences. METHODS: Forty-nine patients participated in the ABLE Trial, a single-arm, unsupervised 6-month physical activity intervention with activity trackers. At baseline and 6 months, physical activity preferences, physical activity level, clinical variables, demographics and social vulnerability were assessed. RESULTS: At baseline, 49 participants were included, among whom 85% were interested in receiving physical activity counselling and 89% were interested in following a physical activity programme designed for metastatic breast cancer. At the end of the study, more participants preferred practising in a community fitness centre (66%) rather than at home (19% vs. 44% at baseline, p = .03). A higher social vulnerability score and not being treated by chemotherapy at baseline were significantly associated with lower desire to receive physical activity counselling (p = .01 and p = .04 respectively). CONCLUSIONS: This study will help design future studies within patients with metastatic breast cancer in accordance with their preferences. Designing tailored physical activity interventions according to the participant's preferences may be one key to success for adherence.
